Air Sea Rescue Launch Quick Update

Just a quick update this time. I've added the strengthened rear deck for the 20mm Oerlikon cannon mounting. I used thick cardboard for the deck itself, with plasticard strips for the strengthening ribs that go around the gun mounting.

Here's a couple of pictures;

Air Sea Rescue Launch Progress

I'm making good progress with my Airfix Royal Air Force Rescue Launch. So far, I've built the hull, added the deck and wheelhouse and replaced the horrible plastic turret guards with correct wire ones. I was originally planning on soldering the wire, but found this to be too fiddly (each new solder joint melted the previous one!), in the end I used superglue! I will also be painting the turrets before putting them in their sockets later on.

More Dragon Wagon Progress

I've now attached all the accessories to the Dragon Wagon semi-trailer, so now the beast is all but finished, apart from the weathering still to be done. The accessories mostly come from either the Dragon Wagon kit itself, or the Tamiya/Italeri Field Maintenance Yard set. The ration boxes are from the Sherman kit which will also form the basis of the load on the trailer.

I've already made a small start on the weathering, I have done the 'chipping' on the checker plate on both the tractor unit and the trailer, next will be the mud on the tractor unit and wheels etc.

Here, then, is the finished, partially weathered Dragon Wagon;

I've also made a start on painting the burnt out Sherman, although at the moment, I'm experimenting with getting the right burnt out/rusted look.

Accessories for the Dragon Wagon

Just a quick post to show the accessories I got to go with the Dragon Wagon I'm building. They come from the both the Dragon Wagon kit itself, and the Tamiya/Italery Field Maintenance Yard kit.

I don't know why Blogger flips my photos occasionally, they show up perfectly on my camera and PC, but apparantly, Blogger knows best which way the pictures should be oriented (not) lol
